Born and raised in Paris 9, Katia Coelho early on nourished her imagination through literature, which she studied at the Sorbonne University. 

This deep connection to narrative and imagery guided her first professional life, for eighteen years, she worked in the fashion industry as a journalist and creative director, notably founding and running Dealer de luxe magazine.

Now based in Lisbon, she has returned to the physical gesture and raw material, choosing textiles as her new medium.

At the crossroads of her diverse influences, she has developed a singular technique she calls TEBORI ART TEXTILE a meticulous process of perforation and embroidery that echoes traditional Japanese hand-tattooing.

Through vibrant compositions of intertwined faces and dense patterns, her work explores a threefold dimension:

aesthetic in the rigor of the weave, political and social by highlighting the collective, and cultural through the bridges built between history and technique.
